If you’re past a certain age then that certainly doesn’t mean that you have to avoide a Halong Bay cruise. There are not Halong cruises for elderly people that are specifically designed, but still the vast majority of cruises available will still be suitable to your needs.
Check the itinerary
A lot of activities in Halong Bay, such as going inside caves, climbing mountains and kayaking, require a certain level of fitness but others, such as visiting pearl farms and floating villages, are not difficult at all. If you don’t want a Halong Bay cruise where everyone else goes off to enjoy the activities and you’re left on the boat then check the ones with easy activities.
Bring a pillow
We say that not so much for the time spent cruising but for the long transfer between Hanoi and Halong Bay. This is 3-4 hours even if you go by private car so it’s worth taking a pillow, or anything else that makes you more comfortable. Most of the better cruise companies have comfortable sunbeds and chairs but an extra pillow still wont do any harm.
Check the weather
Halong Bay can be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It is extremely important that if you are sensitive to the weather that you bring the necessary clothes to keep you comfortable as most cruise ships wont be able to provide you with much more. Having said, it never hurts to ask so if you’re feeling cold then let the cruise staff know and they will see what they can do for you.
There is no such thing as a ‘best cruise for the elderly’ as everyone wants something different regardless of age. But if you take note of the tips above then you will surely be in a better position to make the right Halong Bay cruise decision and the resultant trip more comfortable
